Former Illinois Athletes and their NBA Performances- February 27- Brunson and Co. take down the Mighty Warriors

Sunday, five former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in various NBA games. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from February 27.

Best of the Day

  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Dallas Mavericks)- 32 minutes, 8 points, 4/9 FG, 0/1 3PT, 2 rebounds, a team-high 5 assists (tied with Spencer Dinwiddie), a steal, 2 turnovers, and +5 in a 107-101 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Rest of the Day’s Performances

  • JaVale McGee (Hales Franciscan/Phoenix Suns)- 14 minutes, 4 points, 2/6 FG, a team-high 3 offensive rebounds (tied with Deandre Ayton). a team-high 7 total rebounds (tied with 2 others), an assist, a game-high 3 blocks (tied with Utah’s Rudy Gobert), and a team-worst -20 in a 118-114 loss to the Utah Jazz.
  • Keifer Sykes (Marshall/Indiana Pacers)- 2 minutes, a rebound, and +1 in a 128-107 win over the Boston Celtics.
  • Robert Covington (Proviso West/Los Angeles Clippers)- 25 minutes, 8 points, 2/7 FG, 2/6 3PT, 2/2 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 8 total rebounds, an assist, 2 blocks, and +8 in a 99-98 win over the Houston Rockets.
  • Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon/Los Angeles Lakers)- 25 minutes, 5 points, 2/7 FG, 1/5 3PT, 3 rebounds, a team-high 5 assists, a steal, a turnover, and -9 in a 123-95 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
