Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- March 3- Strus and Heat > Durant and Nets

Thursday, six former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in various NBA games. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from March 3.

Best of the Day: Max Strus

Max Strus (Stagg) started the day as questionable and likely out to being inserted into the starting lineup and playing a huge role in the Heat win.

  • Max Strus (Stagg/Miami Heat)- 36 minutes, 21 points, 6/12 FG, 6/12 3PT, 3/4 FT, a game-high 2 offensive rebounds (tied with 1 teammate and 1 opponent), 5 total rebounds, a steal, a block, a turnover, and +4 in a 113-107 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
    • 7th game with 5 or more three pointers this season.

Rest of the Day’s Performances:

  • Ayo Dosunmu (Morgan Park/Chicago Bulls)- 36 minutes, 15 points, 7/10 FG, 1/1 3PT, 4 assists, a steal, a team-high 1 block (tied with Zach LaVine), a turnover, and +10 in a 130-124 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
  • John Konchar (West Chicago/Memphis Grizzlies)- 14 minutes, 0/1 FG, an offensive rebound, 2 total rebounds, a steal, a team-high 2 blocks, and -8 in a 120-107 loss to the Boston Celtics.
  • Jalen Brunson (StevesonDallas Mavericks)- 29 minutes, 14 points, 6/10 FG, 2/2 3PT, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, a turnover, and a plus-minus of zero in a 122-113 win over the Golden State Warriors.
  • Keita Bates-Diop (University/San Antonio Spurs)- 17 minutes, 0/2 FG, an offensive rebound, 4 total rebounds, 3 assists a team-high 2 steals (tied with 2 other teammates and 1 opponent- game-high was 3), a turnover, and -4 in a 115-112 loss to the Sacramento Kings.
  • Robert Covington (Proviso West/Los Angeles Clippers)- 27 minutes, 12 points, 4/7 FG, 2/3 3PT, 2/2 FT, an offensive rebound, 4 total rebounds, 4 assists, a team-high 2 steals (tied with 3 of his teammates and 1 opponent- game-high was 3), a turnover, and +2 in a 132-111 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
