Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Playoff Performances- May 15- Game 7s and What’s Next

The season is rapidly coming to a close after two Game 7 on Sunday send home two more teams. This leaves four teams left in the running for the title. These four teams are Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, and Miami Heat. All four teams have won at least once over the last 15 years with the Celtics (2008) having the longest drought of 14 seasons.

Also, four former Illinois prep athletes were in action on Sunday. Below is everything you need to know from Sunday and to be all caught up on the NBA happenings.

Box Score

  • Jevon Carter (Proviso East/Milwaukee Bucks)- Player just two minutes and had a -4 plus-minus in the Bucks’ 109-81 loss to the Boston Celtics.
  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Dallas Mavericks)- 30 minutes, 24 points, 11/19 FG, 2/4 3PT, a team-high 3 offensive rebounds, 6 total rebounds, 2 assists, a steal;, and +22 in a 123-90 win over the Phoenix Suns.
  • Sterling Brown (Proviso East/Dallas Mavericks)- 4 minutes, 0/1 Fg, a steal, and -11 in a 123-90 win over the Phoenix Suns.
  • JaVale McGee (Hales Franciscan/Phoenix Suns)- 16 minutes, 6 points, 3/7 FG, 0/1 3PT, a game-high 4 offensive rebounds, a team-high 6 rebounds, an assist, a steal, a team-high 1 block (tied with 3 others), and +7 in a 123-90 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

What’s Next

The East and West Finals are all set with the series starting Tuesday and Wednesday night. The East will start things off at FTX Arena in Miami with the rematch of the Bubble series between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. This series starts on Tuesday at 7:30 PM on ESPN. Over on the West side of things are Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors. The two teams begin their series on Wednesday at 8:00 PM on TNT. Game 1 is at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Only three former Illinois prep athletes are active on a roster of the four teams. Those include Max Strus, Jalen Brunson, and Sterling Brown. Two others are members of teams but are either injured or have yet to be on the game-day roster. Those include Andre Iguodala and Brodric Thomas. Iguodala could make his return this series.
