History was made Thursday night in Los Angeles during the Chicago Sky’s 82-59 win over the Los Angeles Sparks. Candace Parker returned to the “Staples Center,” now known as Crypto Arena for the first time since joining the Sky. In her first appearance, she balled out and record her record-breaking third triple-double of her career.
It was an off night shooting for Parker as she went 4-of-14 from the field but she managed to step up else where. She grabbed 14 rebounds, assisted 10 baskets, had a steal, and blocked one shot.
Parker secured the triple-double with her layup with 5.2 second to go in the third quarter. It was just the second time a player has record a triple-double in three quarters. The first was New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu just one week ago.
There have been just 14 triple-doubles in WNBA history, including the postseason.
This performance gave Candace Parker her third career triple-double which passed Sheryl Swoopes, Courtney Vandersloot, and Sabrina Ionescu who all are tied with two apiece.
Lastly, it will always be Staples Center to Candace Parker.
