ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania broke the internet Saturday with his breaking news of a historic NBA trade.

Los Angeles Lakers are sending two locals to Dallas Mavericks for Luka Doncic. Anthony Davis (Perspectives) and Max Christie (Rolling Meadows) have been key starters for the Lakers but are now on the move.

Davis played six seasons with Los Angeles and won a championship. He was a four-time All-Star and was named to an All-NBA team twice as a Laker.

This season, he’s averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game in 46 games. He’s missed just five games and has 32 double-doubles.

Christie is in his third NBA season (all with Lakers) and finally cracked the starting rotation. For the season, Christie is averaging 8.5 points on 44.4 percent shooting with 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

He took over the starting role on December 8 and since then he’s averaging 10.9 points on splits of .455/.395/.854 with 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists across 24 games.

NBA Games

Fred VanVleet (Auburn) got the start in the Houston Rockets 110-98 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. He had three points (1-4 FG, 1-4 3PT) with two assists, and a -1 plus-minus in 17 minutes but left early with an ankle strain.

Richuan Holmes (Lockport) came off the bench in Washington Wizards 105-103 win over Minnesota Timberwolves. Holmes had six points (2-3 FG, 2-2 FT) with three rebounds, three assists, a steal, a block, and a -7 plus-minus in 18 minutes. His two offensive rebounds were a team-high tied with Jonas Valanciunas. His -7 plus-minus was a team-worst. Terrence Shannon Jr. (Lincoln Park) did not play due to a coach’s decision.

Max Christie (Rolling Meadows) and Jalen Brunson (Stevenson) competed against each other in Los Angeles Lakers 128-112 win over New York Knicks. Christie had 15 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3PT, 2-3 FT) with three rebounds, two assists, a block. and a +21 plus-minus in 33 minutes. His one block was a team-high tied with three others and his +21 plus-minus was a game-high. Jalen Brunson had 17 points (8-18 FG, 0-2 3PT, 3-7 FT) with two rebounds, seven assist, a steal, six turnovers, and a -17 plus-minus in 40 minutes. His minutes, his field goal attempts, and his free throw attempts were a team-high. His six turnovers were a game-worst.

G League Games

Justin Harmon (Curie) did not play in Salt Lake City Stars win over Wisconsin Herd.
