Kate Martin (Edwardsville) turned 25 on Thursday.
Happy birthday to her!
Martin’s birthday coincided with a Golden State Valkyries game.
Her and her Valkyries fell short in an 86-77 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday evening.
The 25-year-old came off the bench in the loss. She had seven points (2-3 FG, 2-3 3PT, 1-2 FT) with four rebounds (one offensive), an assist, a turnover, and a +4 plus-minus in 14 minutes.
Her and Stephanie Talbot (+7) were the only Golden State players with a positive plus-minus.
Despite limited minutes, she was tied with Golden State starter Cecilia Zandalasini in 3-pointers at two each. Martin played nearly half the amount of the minutes Zandalasini (30) played.
Following the loss, WNBA legend dropped her Kate Martin Interview on her YouTube channel on Friday morning.
The interview description reads: Kate Martin sits down with Sue Bird to discuss her incredible college career at Iowa, where she and Caitlin Clark played in two national championship games. She also talks about her friendship with Kelsey Plum, lessons from her rookie year with the Las Vegas Aces, and what she’s bringing to the Valkyries for their inaugural season.
Below is the over an hour long interview between the two hoopers.
So in closing, happy birthday Kate Martin and keep adding to your story- it’s been a good one so far.
